Although Mark has had many interests in his life — from mathematics to TESOL to literature, then, finally, to SAT prep and college admissions counseling — through it all, he has always been a teacher. Over the years, he has worked with children and adults, at universities, summer camps, international schools and private academies. With a Bachelor’s degree in Math, Master’s degrees in both TESOL and Creative Writing, and a PhD in literature, Mark has taught courses in freshman composition, fiction writing, world literature, modern grammar, research methods, statistics, critical reading, business writing, and English for academic purposes. He has also started his own college admissions business, Lyon Prep Academy, after tutoring for some of the most respected test prep and college admissions companies in the industry . He believes that a great teacher must possess the same spirit of inquiry and love for learning that he expects to foster in his students, and so he’s constantly striving to expand his knowledge and his teaching repertoire.
